Reading ability and pronunciation have improved a lot. He now reads at a good steady pace and demonstrates fluency and appropriate changes in tone and intonation. He still occasionally gets similar words mixed up e.g. exam/examined, of/for but it doesn’t really affect the listener’s understanding. His choice of words when speaking can be a bit too formal and should work on expressing thoughts and ideas by using more colloquial expressions. He should do this by listening to or practicing conversation with native speakers. As for his writing, he uses a range of transition words but the sentences tend to be a bit lengthy and difficult to understand, maybe because the procedures he tries to describe are also more complex. He should start with writing shorter sentences and combine or build on them after he has the basic outline. There are also still some grammar mistakes regarding the use of present perfect tense, conditional sentences and abstract pronouns such as, ‘it has been recommended that...’ He should also be aware of the most suitable adjectives that fit a particular subject described such as the differences between using large/high/more. The number of unnecessary words and use of brackets could also be cut down to improve clarity and readability in his writing.
